Tuesday January 18th

Today turned out to out to be a terrific day filled with service and surprises. We continued working at the campsite after an exhausting walk there (it took us over an hour!) Despite being tired before the real work began, we all pulled through and made significant progress on the groups' tasks. Two groups continued to dig up rocks and construct a wall around the perimeter of the campsite while the third group began preparing the site where the benches will be constructed.

We still have a lot more to complete, but we always feel accomplished at the end of the day.

After work we went to Stafford Creek Lodge since Mr. Smith invited is there yesterday when we met with him. It was such a beautiful resort; we took full advantage of the dock and water - it was a refreshing way to cool off!

We then watched the sun set over the water, illuminating the horizon with hues
of pinks, purples, and oranges.

Once darkness settled, Mr. Smith turned on an under-water light he installed several feet in front of the dock. The light attracts plankton, which attracts small fish, which attracts bigger fish, which attracts sharks. We were lucky enough to see all of this action, including the shark! Our day at the lodge was a good reminder of what Mr. Smith had told us the previous night: our survival relies on nature's survival.
